Commissioned for the 2017 Nuit Blanche art festival in Saskatoon, Decompressions is a kinetic sculpture installed on the former site of Lydia’s Pub. In its time Lydia’s was a significant meeting spot for Saskatoon’s creative community as well as a rowdy music venue, housed in the 103 year old Farnham Block and demolished in 2015. Decompressions offers a kind of haunting tribute, one that lilts against a series of work lights, splashing a scaffold-shaped shadow on neighbouring building.
